We pack these "Big Boy" grow kits with 2-3x more substrate than the big name brands to give you the best deal. Our local blend of straw and alfalfa is cleaner than sawdust and gives the mushrooms a richer, more complex flavor.

Why We Love Phoenix Mushrooms

Our chef's choice phoenix mushroom is a favorite in the kitchen! It grows large caps with a complex, earthy flavor that upgrades any dish to gourmet status. We recommend tossing these mushrooms in oil and seasoning, then roasting at 390F for 35-40 minutes. They develop a cheese-like flavor that is perfect for Italian dishes and vegetable medleys.

This variety is prone to pinning inside the bag if it is not opened right away. If you notice white, bulb-like growths forming, simply cut a single 1"x1" window for 1-3 of them to grow through and leave the rest inside the bag.
